RENSWOUDE – The Renswoude Horse Trials organised at the beautiful home property of the Boonzaayer family has ended in great disappointment for ACSI-teammembers Thierry van Reine and Janneke Boonzaaijer. Thierry could not raise the bar with ACSI Piet in the Dutch YR-championship. Janneke did not even make a proper start in the three day event as she was disqualified after dressage. Alice Naber was successful as trainer in the junior classes.
After the loss of ACSI Harry Belafonte this season due to an injury, Thierry put all his money on his trusted ACSI Piet. After his reasonable, but slightly different judged dressage test, the pair Van Reine-ACSI Piet rode a nice clear round in the cross country with calculated time faults only. Thierry was satisfied. For more speed the fitness of ACSI Piet could be further improved, there was still time before the EC in July in Maarsbergen. However in the final showjumping ACSI Piet let Thierry down. Seven fences were lowered. “No EC for me this year”, concluded Thierry heavily disappointed. So after his experiences at the European Championships Juniors in Millstreet 2017 and Fontainebleau 2018 with ACSI Piet no actual follow up in Maarsbergen 2019.
For Janneke Boonzaaijer competition ended before it really begun: she was disqualified because of a bit after her dressagetest. “I rode ACSI Champ de Tailleur with that bit in Sopot in Poland as well. The officials did take a look at it, but simply allowed me to compete. Unfortunately here in Renswoude they did not. Happily enough after the last start in cross country, I was able to ride several parts of the cross country together with Alice and ACSI Peter Parker as a training lap. It went well. However it’s a pity to have shared all preparations at our home property and not being able to ride the whole competition”, Janneke adds.
With 15 year old ACSI Zamzam, 14 year old Leida Naber became sixth in the Dutch Championship for Juniors held in the long 2*-class. It was her debut at that level. Her mother and trainer Alice Naber-Lozeman was too proud! Pupil Caresse Kolkman won the bronze medal, pupil Splinter Bergsma became fourth.
Alice: “I feel very sorry for Thierry in the YR-class, we hoped for something better. He did a good job in cross country.”
Alice herself experienced the cross country as a training with ACSI Peter Parker as well. “All is important as we are preparing for our start in the Nations Cup in Poland”, Alice explained.
As the EC Junior and YR Eventing in Maarsbergen July 10-14 juli will be held in The Netherlands, the Dutch may send more combinations than just the team riders. National coach Marcella de Kam states: “I hope to be able to announce the teams at the end of the week or the beginning of next week. We are allowed to send more combinations than just the teams. I really think it’s a luxury that I have a choice, but the only condition is that combinations can do the job and that there are possibilities for the future.”
