Amazing ninth place for Janneke Boonzaaijer and ACSI Champ de Tailleur at Olympics

During the concluding jumping of the Olympic eventing in Versailles, Janneke Boonzaaijer did not add a single penalty point to her dressage result on two occasions. As a result, her individual ranking rose to a stunning ninth place.

Having already made Olympic history yesterday, Janneke did not add a single penalty point to her dressage result of 31.90 today either.
First of all, all three Dutch horses passed the veterinary inspection smoothly. Then Janneke and ACSI Champ de Tailleur jumped energetic and simple-looking clear rounds. From tenth place, she could start her individual final this afternoon among all the big names in eventing. Janneke once again managed to motivate ACSI Champ de Tailleur to a great clear round, which put them in ninth place. ‘Champ jumped so well, actually even better than in the first round. Unbelievable how Champ finished this!’ A top ten spot at her second Olympics is no small feat, Janneke also realises. ‘I’ve always wanted to be among the best in the world, That this then succeeds with Champ, that’s insane, he’s come from so far. I always kept believing in him and we brought out the best in each other. ACSI Champ de Tailleur does this entirely on his own will! He wants to do everything for me. It’s so cool when you have such a bond with a horse and that we were able to finish like this. Very special!

Team
The time was pretty tight. Teammate Sanne de Jong and Enjoy had a jumping fault and a slight time overrun and ended up 46th. Raf Kooremans even had three faults.
He said afterwards that his Olympic debut will probably immediately be his last eventing competition. He will continue to focus on show jumping with his daughter who won the individual silver medal showjumping yesterday at the European Championships for Ponyriders.
Incidentally, the Dutch team finished 10th ahead of dyed-in-the-wool favourites such as Germany and New Zealand who had dropouts.

Dressage result final result
Janneke and ACSI Champ de Tailleur were one among the four combinations that did not have a single jumping fault or time fault this games. The dressage result was also the final result for British Tom McEwen with Dublin, ending 4th, Japan’s Kazuma Tomoto with Vinci de la Vigne, 5th in the final result and Sweden’s Frida Andersen mounting Box Leo, 12th.
